Week 6 Picks

The Week 6 slate this week is loaded with great games. This week features 6 games between top 25 teams. Lets pick em.

#4 Oklahoma @ #25 TCU
Oklahoma is arguably the hottest team in the nation. The OU defensive front led by Defensive End Eric Stricker will be having a field day with this TCU offensive line. OU is a serious contender for the Playoffs and I don't think TCU will be able to compete. I like the Sooners on the road.
OKLAHOMA 42 TCU 20

#19 Nebraska @ #10 Michigan State
Nebraska has been too one dimensional this year. The passing game just hasn't found them. I like the Michigan State defense to shut down the Nebraska shaky offense. Sparty all the way in this one.
MICHIGAN STATE 31 NEBRASKA 16

#6 Texas A&M @ #12 Mississippi State
Texas A&M is coming off a bad performance against Arkansas in JerryWorld last Saturday. I expect QB Kenny Hill and company to come out firing after having a lot of doubters from last weeks bad performance. Ultimately I think Dak Prescott and MSU is too good at home for the Aggies.
MISSISSIPPI STATE 38 TEXAS A&M 35

#15 LSU @ #5 Auburn
LSU look completely lost vs Mississippi State at home during a blowout loss. I look for LSU to come out strong at Auburn with the running game. I think LSU rebounds but ultimately pull off the upset on the road.
LSU 31 AUBURN 28

#3 Alabama @ #11 Ole Miss
The game of the week! This one will be a barn burner. I like the crowd in Oxford to make a huge difference but I think Alabama will roll into Mississippi and play well. The Tide win this one on the road led by QB Blake Sims and a stable of running backs.
ALABAMA 35 OLE MISS 34

Week 1 Predictions

The College Football Season has arrived! I picked the best 5 games on Saturday and decided to give predictions on all 5.

West Virginia vs #2 Alabama
West Virginia will fare better in this game than most think. West Virginia QB Clint Trickett is no slouch and should come out confident. With all that being said I think Bama rolls in this game with too much depth. Roll Tide in this one.
ALABAMA 41 WEST VIRGINIA 27

#1 Florida State vs Oklahoma State
Florida State is too loaded on all sides of the ball for Oklahoma State. I like Jameis Winston to have a filed day throwing the ball through the OSU Defense at Jerry World. I like Florida State to start out the year strong and come out with an easy win.
FLORIDA STATE 56 OKLAHOMA STATE 24

#14 Wisconsin vs #13 LSU
This game is probably the most intriguing game of the week in my opinion. Both of these teams have hard nose defense and will go at each other in the run game. I like true freshman RB Leonard Fournette to make a stamp on this game and lead LSU to a W.
LSU 27 WISCONSIN 24

#16 Clemson @ #12 Georgia
Clemson has a lot of questions offensively since losing key players QB Tajh Boyd and WR Sammy Watkins to the NFL. I like Georgia RBs Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall to slash the Clemson Defense. I'm taking the Dawgs in Athens.
GEORGIA 31 CLEMSON 24

SMU @ #10 Baylor
This Baylor team will be too much for SMU to handle. Baylor's offense will de dashing the SMU defense all day. I like the Bears combo of QB Bryce Petty to WR Antwan Goodley a lot in the game. Bears win at home big.
BAYLOR 61 SMU 34

College Football Preseason Preview

It's almost that time of year football fans! I don't know about you guys but waiting for football season is exactly like a kid waiting for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve for me. With that being said, I'm chomping at the bit to give a preseason preview for the 2014-2015 College Football season.

JFish Preseason Top 25
25. Duke- Duke has a realistic shot to make it to the ACC Championship for a second straight season. Don't sleep on the Blue Devils.
24. Notre Dame- The QB that led the Irish to the National Championship Game vs Alabama in 2013 Everett Golson is back from Academic suspension. He'll make all the difference in the world for the Irish.
23. Texas- Charlie Strong will be great for this Longhorn team. I just don't think David Ash will be the answer at QB everyone is hoping for the Horns.
22. North Carolina- Marquise Williams could be the best QB nobody is talking about. I think this Tar Heel team has the potential to shock a lot of people.
21. Texas A&M- Life after Johnny Football will be tough for the Aggies. I still think this team could shock us all if we start counting them out.
20. Arizona St- QB Taylor Kelly is the real deal. I just have a lot of questions about the defense keeping up with the uptempo Pac 12 offenses.
19. Kansas St- I've heard a lot of people picking the Wildcats as a dark horse this year. I think KState is OU's strongest competition for the Big 12 title.
18. Nebraska- Head Coach Bo Pellini will be coaching for his coaching life this season. He's got the talent on this Huskers team to compete with Wisconsin for a spot in the Big 10 championship game.
17. Clemson- Clemson will get tested early playing at Florida St Week 3. The rest of the season will be a cake walk until the Palmetto State showdown vs South Carolina the last week of the season. A 10 win season is certainly not out of the question for the Tigers.
16. USC- Outside of away games at UCLA and at Stanford, the schedule sets up very nicely for USC. New coach Steve Sarkisian will be a breath of fresh air for this team.
15. Ole Miss- Watch out for Ole Miss. This team could sneak up and seriously contend for the SEC West crown with QB Bo Wallace leading the way.
14. Wisconsin- I like this Badger team quite a bit. We'll get to find out what they are made of early when they play LSU Week 1 at NRG Stadium (Where the Houston Texans play).
13. Georgia- RBs Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall are quite possibly the best RB duo since the SMU Pony Express with RBs Eric Dickerson and Craig James.
12. Baylor- Baylor can score with the best of them. I just have questions about the defense pulling its weight.
11. Stanford- QB Kevin Hogan has really matured under coach David Shaw. It's just too bad that the Pac 12 this year will be as deep as ever.
10. South Carolina- Steve Spurrier will have the Gamecocks looking sharp as always. I like QB Dylan Thompson to take over with flying colors replacing Connor Shaw.
9. Ohio St- QB Braxton Miller is jaw dropping good. I expect Urban Meyer to have the Buckeyes competing for the Big 10 Championship.
8. Michigan St- RB Jeremy Langford is a playmaker. I like this team to build off of the Rose Bowl win from last year.
7. Auburn- I like Auburn a lot this year. My only question is how QB Nick Marshall will fare losing wing man RB Tre Mason to the NFL.
6. UCLA- UCLA is for sure my dark horse this year even though I have them sitting at #6. Don't be surprised if QB Brett Hundley is in the mix to win the Heisman trophy come December.
5. LSU- Great defense as always and landing the #1 recruit RB Leonard Fournette, who has been compared to Adrian Peterson.
4. Oklahoma- OU and QB Trevor Knight have all the momentum in the world after that beat down of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl last year.
3. Alabama- Talented team with depth at every position, but how does Nick Saban replace QB AJ McCarron?
2. Oregon- This Oregon team has the talent to challenge for a championship. They just need to avoid that late season hiccup they always seem to pull off.
1. Florida St- It's hard not to like the defending Champs with the returning Heisman trophy winner Famous Jameis. I expect big things from this Seminole squad.

World Cup Final

What's up guys! It has been WAY too long since I've posted on JFish Sports Talk, but that's going to change. JFish Sports Talk is locked in and ready to go, better than ever!

It's only fitting to kick JFish Sports Talk back up with a breakdown of the sporting event the whole globe is fixated on: The World Cup Final.

Germany vs Argentina

What a finale for the World Cup!  Germany looked like a well- oiled machine in the Semi Final against the host nation, Brazil. To beat Brazil playing without Captain Thiago Silva and with the face of Brazilian soccer Neymar out with a back injury is one thing, but for Germany to completely dismantle Brazil 7-1 is a completely different thing. I think it is safe to say that we were all stunned at that result. This German team is clicking on all cylinders at what appears to be the right time, which spells bad news for Argentina.

Argentina on the other hand seems to be doing just enough to keep advancing in the tournament. Argentina hasn't been pretty this tournament winning every game by only a one goal margin. It also doesn't hurt that Argentina fields quite possibly the best soccer player in the games history in Lionel Messi. Messi is the drummer, bass player, guitarist, and the lead singer for this Argentinian squad. Argentina goes as far as Lionel Messi takes them. A key to why Argentina struggled to get anything going offensively against the Netherlands is because Messi only touched the ball once in the box the whole game. That one time he touched the ball in the box was when he took his Penalty Kick when 120 minutes of playing time had already passed. If Argentina has a shot to beat Germany they must target Messi more often. Nothing but good things happen when Messi has possession of the ball.

It's time to put my money where my mouth is. This game is essentially the best team vs. the best player in the world (San Antonio Spurs vs Lebron James in the NBA Finals ring a bell?). As much as I would like to see the soccer crazy Argentina fans win the World Cup in rival country Brazil, I just don't see it happening. I like the complete German squad to be the first European country to win a World Cup on South American soil. Deutschland takes this one.

GERMANY 2 ARGENTINA 1

Bonus pick for the third place game
NETHERLANDS 3 BRAZIL 2
